Architecture of Interior and Furniture Design 2022/2023– Bachelor

The three-year program (180 ECTS) at the University of Applied Sciences in Ferizaj “Interior Architecture and Furniture Design” has been developed based on the enhancement and development of the skills of students and graduates from their previous education, always taking into account the increase in the employment of those who graduate from this program. In the development (drafting) phase of the program’s teaching outcomes, businesses of the relevant sector, part of the Industrial Board, were also consulted, from which the competencies and skills to meet their requirements were clearly defined. The program also takes into account the construction of general competencies that enable graduates to adapt more easily to changes in the labor market and industry. These competencies are modeled in various subjects that develop competencies in design and projection, production, knowledge of materials, entrepreneurship and innovation, etc.

Purpose

The goal of the program is to develop a specialized cadre of professionals in the field of Interior Architecture and Furniture Design, using contemporary technologies and cutting-edge applications, which easily adapt to the demands of the labor market. This goal is also in harmony with the mission of the institution.

Expected learning outcomes

Upon successful completion of this program, students will be equipped with the knowledge and skills to be able to:

  • Conceive and design interior spaces according to market demands;
  • Know the materials and their properties for use in interior architecture and furniture design;
  • Demonstrate product development skills;
  • Calculate the cost of products and services;
  • Demonstrate management skills of enterprises and projects;
  • Know the principles of marketing, sales techniques and communication with customers;
  • Apply computer programs for design, construction and visualization;
  • Develop skills in solving constructive furniture problems;
  • Demonstrate technical and organizational skills in production preparation;
  • Develop problem-solving skills in interior space planning;
  • Apply skills of managing, organizing and supervising interior projects;
  • Develop communication skills.

Teaching Methodology:

Teaching Methodology: The teaching methodology is based on contemporary principles of the learning process, combining theoretical and practical approaches with the aim of developing students’ professional competencies. During the teaching process, the following are used:
  • Theoretical lectures – for presenting basic concepts and academic content.
  • Practical exercises – for developing skills and applying knowledge in real situations
  • Discussions and group work – to encourage critical thinking and collaboration.
  • Case studies – for analyzing concrete situations and solving problems.
  • Projects and individual assignments – to develop research skills and independent work.
  • Professional practice, when required, to enable real experience in the relevant field.

Assessment Methods: These are described in the Student Handbook and, more specifically, in the course syllabus. Also, based on the Regulation on Master Studies, the following methods are applied for determining academic success:

  5. Practical test during exercises

The following grades are applied to describe success in exams:

  • 91–100 points: 10 ‘A’ (Excellent)

  • 81–90 points: 9 ‘B’ (Very Good)

  • 71–80 points: 8 ‘C’ (Good)

  • 61–70 points: 7 ‘D’ (Satisfactory)

  • 51–60 points: 6 ‘E’ (Sufficient)

  • 0–50 points: 5 ‘FX/F’ (Fail)

With the knowledge gained in this program, students will be able to work professionally in a wide range of industries, such as: service companies, design offices, furniture and interior design companies, etc. Graduates can work as:

  • Independent designer of interior architecture and furniture design;
  • Operator with CAD programs;
  • Manager of quality of Interior products;
  • Restorer of interior buildings.
  • Supervisor of the production of an enterprise that deals with interior products;
  • Furniture constructor;
  • Interior space planner;
  • Designer of Commercial spaces;
  • Operator of visualization softwares.

The Faculty of Engineering and Informatics has a machinery laboratory, a renewable energy laboratory, a physics and chemistry laboratory, as well as an informatics laboratory. Each classroom is equipped with the latest generation Smart Tables.

  1.  Library and student spaces

The University Library has 1433 different types of publications, some with more than one copy, has 8 reading seats for students and has an area of ​​48.36m2. There is also a reading room with 40 seats. Students also have access to electronic libraries, through the official UASF link: https://ushaf.net → Students → e-Library.

For student data management, UASF uses the Student Information Management System (SMIS) at the link: sims.ushaf.net. For the institutional e-mail system, the Outlook platform is used at: outlook.ushaf.net. For online learning, students use the Microsoft Teams platform, while for academic work and access to institutional applications, they have access to Office 365, with all the services and platforms included.

7. Scholarships offered to students and study fees:

Student scholarships are allocated for each academic year, based on the regulation of the Governing Council for the allocation of financial resources from the category: Subsidies and transfers. The amount of financial resources for the allocation of scholarships is determined by a separate decision by the Governing Council for each fiscal year.Study fees for students are determined by a special Administrative Instruction of the Ministry of Education and UASF applies the fees determined according to the Administrative Instruction of the Ministry of Education.
