Vice Rector of Teaching, Student Affairs and Scientific Research

Salihu is Vice-Rector for Teaching, Science and Student Affairs at the University of Applied Sciences in Ferizaj.

He completed his Bachelor’s Degree in 2006 in the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, at the University of Prishtina, and his Master’s Degree in 2009 at the same institution. He completed his Doctorate in 2024 at Niğde Ömer Halisdemir University in Niğde, Turkey.

From 2007-2009, he worked as a teacher at the Pjeter Bogdani Technical Middle School in Ferizaj, Kosovo

His academic career began in 2009 as an assistant in the Department of Machinery, Faculty of Applied Sciences in Ferizaj, at the University of Prishtina. He would go on to hold various positions, including ECTS Co-ordinator and Head of the Department of Industrial Management.

In 2016, he joined the University of Applied Sciences in Ferizaj as a lecturer, where he is currently an Assistant Professor. He offers courses in topics such as; CAD I, CAD II, Engineering Graphics, Technical Drawing with Descriptive Geometry and Logistics and Transport Management. He has previously held multiple managerial and administrative positions in the university, including; Dean of the Faculty of Tourism and Environment, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Informatics and Vice-Rector for Cooperation with Industry, Practical Work and Commercial Activities

In addition to his academic career, he has been involved in important local and international projects, including the Erasmus+ program, USAID and FEGO; which aim to improve and increase quality in education, strengthen university autonomy, and increase transparency and accountability, improving university services as well as matching them with industry needs. In the Erasmus+ project, EUFORIA-Entrepreneurial Universities for Industry Alliances, he participated in a specialisation course at University of Staffordshire in the U.K. for Design Technology (3D Modelling and Reverse Engineering), as well as leading the training of wood industry workers in the software AutoCAD. In the ERASMUS+KA2 project, Creating Theory to Practice Centres for Innovation and Employment (CTPCIE), he developed teaching materials for professionals, in CAD (2D and 3D). He led the STAND project (Strengthening University Autonomy and Increasing Accountability and Transparency of Western Balkan Universities) as Institutional Co-ordinator. He also has extensive experience in managing and implementing projects funded by international organisations.

He serves as an external expert in the Prosecutor’s Office and the Basic Court in Ferizaj. He is also a member of the European Association for Accident Research and Analysis.

He has published several scientific papers in well-known international journals and has participated in numerous international conferences where he has presented his scientific papers.

He speaks English and Turkish as well as his native Albanian.
